Event at the OK Cafe in Manchester

On the 30th of May 2011 RAWA Solidarity Scotland visited the Okasional Cafe in Manchester to talk about RAWA, show a film, and raise some funds.

The event began at around 7pm with volunteers serving Afghan food¬† for a small donation. Then sofas were moved around and a projector set up to screen the film “A View from a Grain of Sand.” Somebody who came along to the event spontaneously and generously made popcorn, encouraging everyone to donate a few more of their pennies to RAWA. A RAWA Solidarity Scotland stall sold patches and zines and gave away other free awareness raising materials to people. A brief introduction was given before the film began, and at the end of the film a Q&A disscussion session was held incase anybody wanted to ask anything about RAWA. The OK Cafe helped to bring our first donation of the year (2011) up to ¬£300, and this has now been sent to them. Come to out next event and help raise some more!
